MONTH 1- declutter & donate
MONTH GOAL: Start fresh by decluttering your home or workspace and donating items you no longer use. This helps reduce waste, supports those in need, and encourages a mindset of mindful consumption.
DAILY ACTION: Spend 5-10 minutes each day going through a drawer, closet, or shelf to find items to donate. Keep a box or bag ready for donations and add to it throughout the month.
WHY DOES IT MATTER: In the U.S., over 9 million tons of clothing end up in landfills each year. By donating or repurposing unwanted items, you can help reduce waste and extend the life of useful goods.
IT WILL SAVE YOU MONEY: “Decluttering and donating can save you up to $100 a month by reducing unnecessary purchases, lowering storage costs, and potentially providing tax deductions.”
INVOLVE YOUR KIDS: Encourage kids to sort through their toys and clothes to find items they’ve outgrown or no longer play with and donate them to a local charity.
IF YOU WANT TO DO MORE- BE A CHANGE MAKER! Coordinate a Donation Drive: Partner with local charities or shelters to collect donations of clothing, household items, books, and more. Promote the event through local community boards, social media, and word of mouth to encourage participation.
